• Message from the Board Chairman: Debbie Montes, Homewood Suites by Hilton

  • The Chamber is a great way to connect with other businesses and customers and discover all that is going on within the City of Newark and neighboring cities. Even during the challenges of the pandemic, it is one of the best ways to connect and meet with any number of new people – people who you may find yourself doing business with or who become other conduits to new business opportunities for you. In fact, taking advantage of your Chamber membership at this critical time is a strategy you really don't want to ignore. Because of the closely established relationships the Chamber has built with our elected officials, reaching out to express your concerns and share ideas with city, regional and state leaders is also an easy and natural course of action.

As a Newark Chamber Member, you have the ability to grow your own business through many channels. Face to face opportunities of course, during the pandemic, have been limited. But virtual connections, informational webinars and social media promotion by the Chamber, and direct email communication with hundreds of business people and subscribed residents, remain some of the most affordable ways of getting the word out about almost anything you want to promote about your business.

Am I an advocate for the Chamber? YES, I am! I recently relocated to our Livermore hotel after 13 years as Director of Marketing and Sales at our Homewood Suites Newark location. But I am still actively volunteering in our Newark Chamber, because, during all those years, our hotel has benefited greatly from our Chamber Membership in a number of ways: access to information provided by the Chamber on businesses in the area; the opportunities to showcase our hotel at business events throughout the year; easy access to city officials coordinated by the Chamber, to share and often resolve our issues and concerns; and, the opportunity for our employees to work together in team-building opportunities alongside other chamber members and city people on many volunteer activities in which we participate for the betterment of the community. Relationships grow and are strengthened when you work side-by-side, get to know each other, and understand that together we can do so much that we can’t do alone.

I am honored to continue to serve the Newark Chamber as the 2020-21 board chairman, and I invite you to get to know your Chamber. During these challenging times we need YOU, and you need US. Get involved at whatever level you can, and see how it will benefit you, your business, and our City.

    Sincerely,
Debbie Montes, Homewood Suites by Hilton-Livermore
    Chairman of the Board, 2020-2021
